Day 5 – ๐ Trek to Nongriat Living Root Bridges (from Tyrna)
We had wisely booked our stay for the NEXT day(day7th) at [SMOKY FALLS MAE FI RESORT], which is located near the base at Tyrna. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful — they allowed us to leave our main luggage safely at the resort while we carried just the essentials[just a small back pack and water] down for the trek. There are shops on the way, so you can buy required items. This made a huge difference, especially given the steep steps.
P.S: Don't make your luggage heavy, since you have got to take lots of steps down and back up
-
๐ง Start Point: Tyrna village (20 km from Sohra)
Single Decker Bridge Trek- Take a small diversion after getting down few 1000 steps. There are markings everywhere.
-
๐ช Double Decker Bridge Trek: ~3,500 steps each way (~3 km). Includes Single Decker Root Bridge en route.
-

๐ Rainbow Falls: 1.5 km further (~1,500 more steps from Double decker root bridge). Strenuous but the turquoise pool and rainbow mist make it worth it!
Day 6 – ๐ง Trek Back & Rest Day at Tyrna
The climb back is tough (~3,500 steps uphill), so we stayed at a peaceful guesthouse just 500m from the top and took the day to relax.
Place we stayed: SMOKY FALLS MAE FI RESORT Resort
Day 7 – ๐งน Drive to Mawlynnong (~80 km)
Asia’s cleanest village — spotless paths, smiling locals, and floral gardens everywhere. Entry ticket is there to enter the village
Place is so safe that, night we were just sleeping in the center of the village on the road.
